Creepy, Vintage and Shabby Chic Mini Coffins.

 

    Hi, I am back.  I had a busy July, moving to a new apartment and settling in takes time, but I finally got the chance to get back to my artwork. I have been checking Michaels stores every week for their 99 cent coffins.

    I decided to make themed coffins. I made a Marie Antoinette coffin, a vampire one and King Tut coffins. Had fun trying to figure out how to decorate the coffins in the most realistic way possible.

   So here is my Marie Antoinette coffin. I used Martha Stewart pearl pain in pink, some distress ink to aged it up and some squirts of LindStampgang sprays. The hands holding up the bouquet and the angel are made out of paper clay, Inside I sewn a cushion pink bedding for my tulle dressed skeleton of Marie.

 I dressed the bottom with fringed ribbon and heart shape pearl trim. The feet of the coffin are just silver beads.

Pearl trim decorated the rim of each side of the coffin and hand sewn cushion satin fabric and pearl beads.

Finishing off the shabby look.

My Dracula coffin sprayed with LindyStampgang  sprays and decorated with IamRoses papre roses and flowers.

Paper clay hand is painted with Gold Lumiere acrylic paint and lace cuffed decorated with a rhinestone trim.

Again, hand sewn cushion velvet padding and a R.I.P. sign in the inside cover

Love how this gives it a creepy look to the coffin.

Dracula is a black glitter skeleton that has silk cuffs and pearl necklace.

He laying upon a burgundy velvet padding that is hand sewn with gold beads to tie in the whole "creepy" vampire vibe.

I decided to a Kind Tuts coffin just to change it p a bit and try something totally different.

I do have a collection of molds, stamps and pieces of embellishments that are Egyptian themed.

                                      Twins Smiles

I love this stamp from Stampotique. I decided to make little dolls again. Using Smiles as my inspiration. I hand sewn the tiny pillow to form the doll. Placed the Brothers Tweedledum and Tweedledee on a 6 x 6 inch chipboard.

  The brothers standing in a garden and enjoying the sunshine. I am entering this little display of art for the duplicate stamp image at Stampotique Designer challenge. Thanks again for visiting.

                                          Colorful Kraft

  I went to Michaels today and saw that the 12 x 12 pads are 50 % on sale. Therefore I purchase the Recollection Garden Harvest. I decided to make a Karin doll. I stamp on Muslin cloth and then I did some felting.
 I used yellow and white wool and did her hair and her neckline. Then I did a sloppy sewing and "viola" the Karin doll.
  I placed her on top of some paper from the Garden Harvest collection. I love the contrast of the green and purple against the Kraft background, makes the colors pop .
  To tie in the theme, I wrote on a tiny chalkboard, Grow Sweet. Kind of remind me the beginning of summer.  So this card celebrates June, being the first month of the Summer season.
I also want to enter this card into the colorful theme in the Stampotique  designers challenge. Hope everyone enjoys the Karin doll.

                    The Traveling Trunk of Indiana Jones.

 

 About a week ago , I was shopping at Aaron Brothers. I was looking at what they had at the clearance section. I spotted a clock. It was designed as a small traveling trunk, it was on 50% sale. Original price $50.00, so that would make it to be $25.00.

   A bit pricey for my taste but not for my liking, so I decided to make my own. I went home, pull out my stash of chipboard and started on my project. Boy, was this project fun.

 It measure 4 x 5 inches and it stands on four feet. I made them out of chipboard. I used a lot of Distress Inks and Tim Holtz tissue tape.

  When you open the small trunk, you have two doors to open. The right door displays a scene of Indiana Jones looking through a telescope. He looking for the lost treasure that is displayed on the backside of the door . The image I cut out of a Trader Joes shopping bag. I placed the image behind plastic foliage, skulls, ancient ruins and a tiny rubber snake.

  The door on the left, has three shelves inside. It is Indiana's collection of souvenirs or  precious findings from his adventures. The thermometer and compass are real and they work. Everything you see is in a very small scale.

   In the first shelf you can see the working thermometer, a tiny pair of dice, one playing card, a tiny bust of Tutankhamen, a small bottle containg glitter and has a leaf charm hanging from the topper.

   The second shelf contains  a see through house which you can see a tiny woman inside and she is facing a man that is inside a see through phone booth. On the wall hanging it says a love story, so the woman and man are a part from each other and I placed a key next to the house. Also hanging on the back wall is a tiny bottle cap that says a special note. A pine tree and a porcelain doll that stands on top of a lace the hangs off the shelf a little bit.

   The final and third shelf shows a passport, working compass, a hanging chandelier, an angel hanging off the back wall. The is another tiny angel that in capsuled inside UTEE. And finally a small shrine that is made out of wood , painted with Lumiere paint and decorated with swarovski rhinestones. You can also see a tiny man standing inside the shrine.

In all , I think my traveling trunk is really stinking cute. Had fun making it and it looks a lot better than that $50.00 clock I saw at Aaron Brothers. Thanks for dropping by.

Alice in Wonderland Projects 2011 to 2012

 If there is one subject I am keen about, it is Alice in Wonderland. I love the story, I have a DVD collection of several Alice movies. They mark a certain time in my childhood. I truly believed there was a Wonderland when I was little girl.

Still inspired today, I have done several art projects on Alice's adventures, from mini albums,shadowboxes, greeting cards and jewelry. I simply love the creepy, weird and the bizarre of the characters in the story.

This shadowbox I made out of chipboard and used the paper collection Sweet Nectar from K and Company. I punched out butterflies using the Martha Stewart monarch punch. I placed the butterflies on coiled wire, so when you move the shadowbox the butterflies flutter.

Alice is all paper pieced and adorned in tiny pearls. Measures approximately 6 x 6. Used I am Roses and an acrylic light blue flower. Used also some plastic ferns and flowers. Love this box.

Here is another shadow box, but this closes like a book. I added the white rabbit. I leaft the frame empty, because it is meant to be given as a gift. Size  of the shadow box book is 8' x8".

 I also made an Alice in Wonderland Mini album. I made the entire album myself. All the characters and hand drawn and paper pieced. It took a while to finish this album, This is the front cover.

Backside of the front cover,  another Alice I drew colored and made her dress complete with paper lace.

The famous door that Alice tries to go through. I made the table and placed a "Drink Me" bottle and that key. You can actually open the door. I made a pop up garden, miniature scale. Really cute.

Evey little critter, flower or leaf is made out of my collection of miniature paper punches. The water is paper I found at Michaels which is an photo of a lake. Love how this came out.

Alice can not resist the little "Eat Me" cakes. So made several out of paper clay. I put Alice on a slider card, so when you pull her head up , she grows. Really fun.

I hope you enjoyed my artwork. It took a month or two to finish. Mostly on how to develop the pages. Once I got the idea, then the rest was easy. Love this mini album,  and thanks for visiting my  blog.

Stampotique Family Challenge

I used the only two stamps I own from Stampotique, which is Karin and Smiles. So I started to think how I can make them into a family. So I came up with using Smiles twice, making one into a little girl.

Therefore I made a brother and sister standing next to their Mother. There are standing in front of a house made out of canvas. I used some acrylic paint and Lindystampgang sprays. Made my own banner sporting the title "Family".

Everybody is wearing yellow and showing off their pearly whites.  I introduce to you the Smiles Family.  LOL, I am having fun with this.

Stampotique ATC for the Challenge.

 This Stampotique Karin stamp was used to make an Alice in Wonderland ATC.  Love how this ATC came out.
I use Vintage photo distress ink, Lumiere acrylic paint for the background.
Punched out flowers colored with Copic markers. I made her dress larger than what the stamp displays. So I cut out some paper to make the dress,

Smile stamp, used some Stickles for the heart and used some Black Deco Pearl Pen for the eyes. Made the banner myself.

I used the Karin stamp from Stampotique again.
 I made her a dress out of blue cardstock, lace and ribbon.
I used some roses for I am Roses. A button and a flower lace from Michales.
Background is a stamp from Prima and cover with light blue sheer fabric.
